Our pre-season meeting was held a bit earlier in the year than usual to register our playing members for this year, and to choose a new Club Captain. Bob Davies was elected to the post and Steve Meech will be his right-hand man.
In common with a lot of other clubs we have decided to modernise our playing kit so we'll be playing our matches in blue bottoms instead of the outdated greys and whites. This change will give us a unique identity on the green.
Our new greenkeeper has been working hard during the off-season to bring our green back up to the high standard it has always been known for. It's already bowling a truer, flatter line and there are still two months to go before we re-open. A fox seems determined to slow the process down but we think we've managed to outwit him - for now.
Our annual Open Day will be on Saturday April 26th. from 10 - 4. All ages are welcome. Watch out for announcements on social media.
If you ask our members why they joined Richmond Park Bowls Club, most of them would say it was because of the warm and friendly welcome they received when they first walked through the door.
We’re a diverse bunch and there are no cliques or club politics - we all get on well and love the game of bowls.
We have a professionally-maintained bowling green and it’s easy to get to from all parts of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. As a member you’re entitled to use it as often as you like throughout the bowling season (April - September).
Our spacious clubhouse has a fully licensed bar where drinks and snacks are available after every game and during social events. We also have a widescreen tv showing Sky Sports and a pool table, plus free wi-fi - all courtesy of Winton Cricket Club who share the clubhouse with us.
There’s a hugely popular Quiz Night on the last Friday of every month, and during the off season there are various indoor activities to get involved in, including short mat bowls, darts and card games.
We play Bournemouth and District League matches against competing clubs on Saturday mornings and afternoons and on Tuesday evenings. Take a look at the Results and League Tables to see how we've done in previous seasons.
Each year there are various club competitions you can enter to test yourself against the other club members, and there’s also the chance to play friendlies with touring clubs that visit us from time to time during the season.
*Any touring clubs that would like to include Richmond Park on their trip please get in touch.
If you’re a new bowler who wants to learn the game, or a more experienced player who wants to move clubs and you’re keen to know more about playing for us, contact us now - or if you’re ready to join, download a membership form - we look forward to welcoming you to our club.
